DanceDigital presents three evenings of energetic, engaging and enlightening dance on film screenings at the Thameside Theatre, Grays. Curated and presented by leading figures in the British dance and film world, Forward Motion is co-produced by the British Council and South East Dance.
The first in the series of evenings begins on 12 January and sees Channel 4’s Ballet Boyz introduce a selection of dance films with their unique approach to using film to generate new dance audiences. The series continues on 2 February with film maker David Valentine introducing two of his works The Duellists and a music for video for Stefan Tretau, along with a newly commissioned work from DanceDigital. The final evening in the series on 9 March presents a panel discussion on the future of Dance on Film facilitated by DanceDigital.

A wonderfull chance to see on a big screen extraodinary dance film. Great to talk to the Ballet Boyz on how they view and create film
A fantastic opportunity to watch and discuss dance film. The Ballet Boyz spoke of their up and coming projects as well as their approach to making film. A varied programme of dance films with introductions by leading figures of dance. Can’t wait for the next series.
Great to see the BalletBoys at the Forward Motion Dance on Film event in Grays this week. They have such an interesting tale to tell whether through film or movement. This was followed by 6 films selected by other artists in the field. My two favourites were Tattoo and The Cost of Living. Check them out and let me know what you think.
