Hire Create Dance Studio
The Create Dance Studio opened in June 2009 providing a permanent home for Focus Youth Dance Company.
The studio is also home to several community dance classes including adult Ballet, Egyptian Belly Dance, Street Dance and Pilates.
During weekdays the studio gives residency and rehearsal space to professional choreographers allowing them to have a dedicated, supportive atmosphere in which to create work. We will be following many of the choreographers during their residency periods here on this website and hope this gives you a valuable insight into the work of DanceDigital. Choreographers that have used the space since it’s opening include Darren Johnston, Tom Dale, Tilted Productions, Base Dance, Neon Productions and Jonah Bokaer.
The Create Dance Studio is available for hire for professional choreographers and community classes alike. We have listed the studio facilities here on this page. We are currently building a sub-site network to give a full flavour of all the activities that take place in the Create Dance Studio, from community dance classes, to choreographic residencies, master classes to youth dance company updates. Over time, we will build these areas into a valuable resource for dance both in Essex and further afield.
How to Find Create Dance Studio

Day: 8am – 5pm/ Evening 5pm – 10pm
Create Dance Studio is situated on Eckersley Road, just off Victoria Road and Regina Road, in Chelmsford Town Centre with easy access to the train and bus stations as well as local parking and amenities. Create studio is a 5-10 minute walk from the bus and train stations and DanceDigital office is a 2 minute walk from the studio. How to Hire Create Dance Studio
Our studio is used for a variety of activities from workshops and classes to rehearsal space for choreographers and local drama groups. The studio is currently equipped with a 10m x 8m sprung floor with a black studio flooring laid on top, portable mirrors, portable ballet barres, boombox sound system, two unisex toilets, tables and chairs. Hire fees for the studio vary at different times of the day.
Day Rate 8am – 5pm: £15ph
Evening Rate 5pm – 10pm: £21ph
Weekend Rate 8am – 10pm: £21ph
DanceDigital offers a special day rate for artists who are currently not in receipt of grant funding. This is offered at £10ph
DanceDigtal also welcomes longer block bookings between the hours of 8am – 5pm.
Daily Rate: £90pd
Weekly rate: £450pw
Cancellation
4 weeks notice is required to cancel the hire.
2 weeks notice is required when breaking for holidays but continuing with the hire afterwards.
The hirer will be liable for the charges of the studio if these terms are not met.
