Say Something

H2 Dance

Colchester Arts Centre, 1 December 2011

Say Something is an interactive music and dance experience where the audience is immersed in vocal and electronic sounds moving from the sublime to the unsettling.
Following on from their critically acclaimed production To Die For, h2dance and composer Sylvia Hallett (Lost Dog, Wonderful Beast, The Royal Shakespeare Company), takes on choirs with a strong social identity investigating groups, conformism and freedom of expression. Sharing the performance space, the audience and the performers are in constant negotiation with one another, influencing the direction and outcome of the work, making each performance unique.

“I love the way the show deals with (and satirises) so many aspects of contemporary life, with such a light touch, and the way the atmosphere stays ambivalent right to the end. Every time I laughed I felt guilty. Not many performances can get you feeling so good and so uncomfortable at the same time.” Clive Bell, The Wire (from the premiere of Say Something).

“an audacious piece of dance theatre from a patently talented company keen to engage with the times in which we live.” Time Out (To Die For).

“A determinedly defiant and forceful piece of 21st-century dance theatre – that follows in the footsteps of Pina Bausch” The Guardian (To Die For).

Say Something is financially supported by Nordic Arts and Culture Fund, Norwegian Arts Council, Swedish Arts Council, Buskerud Fylkeskommune, Säffle Kommun, Dans i Värmland and Arts and Grants Kensington and Chelsea and The Royal Norwegian Embassy.

Additional support by Scenerommet, Vestfossen, Devir CAPA, Faro, Union Scene, Drammen, Hextable Dance, Laban Theatre and London Studio Centre.
