My freelance dance work continued through my studies in 2007 i explored a variety of teaching, choreography and performance opportunities. \r\n\r\nAs part of Union Too, I opened Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Tottenham, dancing as part of the launch production for the culturally diverse centre. Working with aspiring professionals in the arts industry, which led to me choreographing for the Black labels, black history month event in September 2007 for London Transport. As well as club Promotion for A& G promotions, offering dance for a variety of events, club nights and private functions.\r\n\r\nIn Autumn 2008, I trained in New York City, taking a variety of open classes at Alvin Ailey, Graham School, and the Broadway Centre. This career development widened my artistry and desire to perform. \r\n\r\nIn December 2008, I successfully auditioned to be a dancer for the 2009 Blueprint Bursary Winner Roz Lynch: a Nike D-Clash dancer, her reputation preceded her. This performance opportunity enabled me to perform in well-known London dance venues as a professional dancer. During the Blueprint project I was re-introduced to Vicki Igbokwe a lecturer from Middlesex University who had set up a performance based Company. I am now a dancer in Uchenna Dance Company and also assist teaching for the company's educational outreach work within schools. \r\n\r\nI continue to work as an Independent Dance Artist, this work consists of educational work, dance performance, choreography, freelance teaching for DanceDigital formerly essexdance, collaborating with musicians, producers, artists and photographers. \r\n\r\nCurrently i am choreographing a short dance film. When completed will later be showcased as part of film festivals and choreographic platforms from spring 2010. This involves dancing Nia daily, exploring the pleasure of movement, enJOYing movement, becoming healthier and fitter and thoroughly having a good time! I will continue with ongoing Nia courses and training opportunities to keep my practice, and therefore my teaching, up to date and alive.\r\n\r\n In April, 2010 I took my White Belt Intensive with Helen Terry, a black belt trainer from America, who trains Nia belts all over the world. That was an amazing experience and led to me loving Nia even more deeply! Now it is time to share my love and enjoyment of this technique with you.\r\n\r\nOne important aspect of me to let you know is that before I started participating in Nia I had hardly ever before enjoyed exercise of any kind, with the exception of walking. Exercise\/keep fit classes to me meant feeling inadequate as my body wouldn't seem to manage movements that others' could; self- conscious as my body was usually bigger than most in the room; and disappointed that I had not been able to achieve what others had done. All this has changed dramatically with Nia, which encourages everybody of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities to enjoy moving for Pleasure and Joy, and to move in their own body's way. This gives such freedom in the form, and the self-expression parts of each routine also allow one to connect to what our bodies need at any given time and place. \r\n\r\nFor many years after leaving school at age 15 I worked in admin jobs, then after I'd had my two daughters I trained as a remedial massage therapist and a beauty therapist, both of which I practised from home. I loved the massage work especially and know that this made a difference to the physical and mental health of my clients.\r\n\r\nI have spent the past fourteen years as a social worker, a career at which I achieved highly but I had lost some of the heart that I had for it. I wanted to continue to guide and support people but decided that it would now be better for me to follow my heart, and apply some more life-enhancing techniques to doing so. While I was working my notice I discovered Nia, and my new life path was clearly revealed to me. I look forward to sharing this journey with you, so far Nia has improved my general health, my fitness level, my flexibility (especially of my spine with which I have had chronic and severe difficulties since I was a teenager) and my zest for life. Empower yourself to let Nia do the same for you. \r\n\r\n I LOVE NIA!!! I just know that you will too.","company":"GillianNia","discipline":"Nia Technique Teacher","postcode":"WD25 9QQ","mobile-number":"07882891358","facebook":"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/#!\/pages\/Watford-United-Kingdom\/GillianNia\/401784745378?ref=ts&ajaxpipe=1&__a=6","youtube":"Gillian Avalonia","latitude":"51.6843888","longitude":"-0.3846722","address":"30 Fourth Avenue, Watford, WD25 9QQ, UK","latlong":"51.6843888,-0.3846722","id":43,"label":"gilliannia","freshness":43,"mainurl":"\/author\/gilliannia"},{"name":"kundai","displayname":"kundai","email-address":"kdangare@live.co.uk","website-link":"","wp-user":"102","wp-link":"\/author\/kundai","contact-name":"kundai","primary-blog":"1","id":44,"label":"kundai","freshness":44,"mainurl":"\/author\/kundai"},{"name":"dbini","displayname":"dbini","email-address":"mail@dbini.co.uk","website-link":"http:\/\/tanjaramandbiniindustries.com","wp-user":"88","wp-link":"\/author\/dbini","contact-name":"dbini","primary-blog":"1","avatarurl":"http:\/\/dancedigital.org.uk\/avatar\/user-88-48.png","company":"dbini industries","facebook":"www.facebook.com\/raman.dbini","role":"Performer","information":"one half of Wales-based dance company tanja r\u00e5man+dbini industries. I am keen to develop my individual, artistic voice as both a theatre maker, choreographer, performer and facilitator. I particularly focus on improvisation to generate new movement material, generally working from a simple stimulus and expanding through a structured, improvised process. As a lecturer I devise workshops and lesson plans focusing on building improvisational skills with my students, exploring the boundaries of what is considered as performance. I am passionate about creating new works and new takes on what has been done before; I do not want to copy other artists I want to find my own voice within the arts field and I am currently in the process of starting up my own visual theatre and movement company UnHinged. The need to learn from each process I undertake is central to my self-motivation as an artist. I enjoy challenging myself, going beyond my limits and my comfort zone.","primary-blog":"1","contact-name":"nhicks","role":"Performer","id":49,"label":"nhicks","freshness":49,"mainurl":"\/author\/nhicks"},{"name":"vision4arts","displayname":"vision4arts","email-address":"stan@vision4arts.co.uk","website-link":"http:\/\/vision4arts.co.uk","wp-user":"111","wp-link":"\/author\/vision4arts","discipline":"Producent","company":"Vision4Arts","primary-blog":"1","contact-name":"vision4arts","postcode":"CM7 3LU","mobile-number":"07846724744","role":"Funder","latitude":"51.8784639","longitude":"0.5773205","address":"18 Braiding Crescent, Essex, Braintree, CM7 3LU, United Kingdom","latlong":"51.8784639,0.5773205","id":50,"label":"vision4arts","freshness":50,"mainurl":"\/author\/vision4arts"},{"name":"christopherengdahl","displayname":"christopherengdahl","email-address":"engdahlproductionstudio@live.se","website-link":"http:\/\/swedance.ning.com","wp-user":"110","wp-link":"\/author\/christopherengdahl","contact-name":"christopherengdahl","primary-blog":"1","twitter-link":"chrisresearch","id":51,"label":"christopherengdahl","freshness":51,"mainurl":"\/author\/christopherengdahl"},{"name":"diversityfan1","displayname":"diversityfan1","email-address":"sarah--curtis@hotmail.co.uk","website-link":"","wp-user":"113","wp-link":"\/author\/diversityfan1","contact-name":"diversityfan1","primary-blog":"1","id":52,"label":"diversityfan1","freshness":52,"mainurl":"\/author\/diversityfan1"},{"name":"dimainstone","displayname":"di mainstone","email-address":"dimainstone@hotmail.com","website-link":"http:\/\/www.dimainstone.com","wp-user":"115","wp-link":"\/author\/dimainstone","contact-name":"didistone","primary-blog":"1","avatarurl":"http:\/\/dancedigital.org.uk\/avatar\/user-115-48.png","information":"Di Mainstone is an artist and inventor.
