I am an independent theatre practitioner, performer and choreographer and lecturer/teacher, interested in using multiple art forms to devise new work. I have trained in both dance and performing arts, and incorporate the various skills I have learnt in both areas to inspire my work. I am keen to develop my individual, artistic voice as both a theatre maker, choreographer, performer and facilitator. I particularly focus on improvisation to generate new movement material, generally working from a simple stimulus and expanding through a structured, improvised process. As a lecturer I devise workshops and lesson plans focusing on building improvisational skills with my students, exploring the boundaries of what is considered as performance. I am passionate about creating new works and new takes on what has been done before; I do not want to copy other artists I want to find my own voice within the arts field and I am currently in the process of starting up my own visual theatre and movement company UnHinged. The need to learn from each process I undertake is central to my self-motivation as an artist. I enjoy challenging myself, going beyond my limits and my comfort zone.
