Marlon Barrios Solano

marlonBarriosSolanoMarlon Barrios Solano is a Venezuelan experimental online producer and researcher based in NYC, Dresden and Geneva. He is the creator and producer of dance-tech.net dance-techTV, dance-tech@ (interviews and documentaries) and dance-tech interactive LLC, organization that supports all dance-tech.net projects.

With a hybrid background in dance, new media technologies and cognitive science, he continues to investigate the intersection of the performance of motion with new media technologies, real-time composition (improvisation and interactive technology), embodied cognition while experimenting with on-line platforms for the development of sustainable models of knowledge production-distribution among trans-local communities and contexts.

Marlon is a lecturer for the Masters on Performance Practices and Visual Cultures for the Universidad de Alcala (Spain) and is the advisor on collaborative technologies for South American Network of Dance and the Gilles Jobin Company (Switzerland).

He is currently DanceDigital’s Associate Producer and will be collaborating in curating two online series on dance-techTV, Choreography or ELSE and Techné.

Choreography or ELSE will feature complete performances from international choreographers, dance artists or directors that continue to challenge traditional and contextual notions of choreography.
The monthly broadcast of the performance will be accompanied with the publication of rich media supporting material about that performance and choreographer such as: reviews, interviews, essays and other references. dance-tech.net will also offer a interactive space of dialogue with the featured artist.

Techné: body+motion+computation presents complete seminal works of dance/movement artists engaged on the experimentation of the performance of movement interfaced with digital technologies.

The works are presented with a video interview with the artist and a compilation of on-line references about the work and the artist.

The aim of this series is to create an online LIVING archive of the evolving field of dance and technology.
