Kate Flatt Projects Presents Soul Play

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Sould-Play-Home-page-CarousRenowned choreographer and movement director Kate Flatt brings her intimate and moving dance theatre piece Soul Play to London and the East of England one last time in March 2010.Kate Flatt Projects in association with Watford Palace Theatre present Soul Play. Soul Play tells the story of a young man who awakens in a no-man’s land: a zone without time or place, which he does not understand. Alone and afraid, he begins putting questions into the void, trying to determine what is required of him. An enigmatic female figure appears, a woman who doesn’t speak but uses gesture, touch and dance to communicate with him. Through their encounter, he is forced to recall how he got to this place, and through his relationship with her he begins to discover a fleeting answer of sorts – a sense of transference.

Drawing on Eastern-European theatre traditions and ideas around rites of passage, Soul Play is an effortless fusion of dance and theatre, which asks us to reconsider the notion of the soul and its place in our contemporary secular culture.
